Tom was awarded a scholarship to train at Laban London where he won the Centre’s award for outstanding achievement in choreography 1998. His own choreographic work includes, Eddystone Raver, created to unreleased music by Tom Jenkinson, aka Squarepusher, which was broadcast on BBC2, and stage pieces including RISE (his most recent touring work), I Infinite, Dual and Spheres. Tom is also regularly commissioned by other artists and organisations to create original dance and movement based pieces.

Alongside his company work, he has danced with a number of leading choreographers including Fin Walker, Jochen Heckman, Barak Marshall, Philippe Girardeau, Tom Roden, Chris Tudor and Matthew Bourne. In 2006 he was a semi-finalist for the prestigious Place Prize with, Whose Futures.

Tom comes from a background in electronic music and its various subcultures; this is obvious in his work however he has a passion for an eclectic mix of musical genres, which always forms part of the company’s creative process.

Biography of Piece

A startlingly expressive piece of physical work based on a latent need to "let go", the building up of potential energy and its release. Cabin Fever is a voyeuristic look at how we operate creatively within our confined mental, physical and social realities.

Tom Dale uses investigations of gravity, fragmentation, and sequencing patterns, to create explosive yet relaxed movement forms. Music features as a central part of the company’s work.
